A music video DVD which is wholly made by students.  All money proceeds will go to Age UK, Milton Keynes, who work with and for older people to make a difference in their lives.

Directed and produced by Sharon Oh, who is currently completing her Foundation Degree in Digital Imaging and Design for Media at the University Centre Milton Keynes.  She thought that raising money for charity is a good cause, therefore, she has taken this thought into her final major project by selling her music video and raising money for a charity, Age UK, MK.

The music is composed by performing arts student, Joel Blundel and the song writers are Irene Oh and Joel Blundel.  The attractive and outstanding album cover is by a Scottish artist, Ritchie Collins.

Games Development Course

Article and Picture by SABRIN JEMAL

THE city could soon boast the next generation of computer game developers thanks to a pioneering new course at Milton Keynes College.

The college is launching a BTEC level 2 in Games Development in January – the first ever course of its kind in Milton Keynes.

And it has already attracted a wealth of interest following its unveiling at an open evening at the college’s Sherwood Drive campus in Bletchley.

MK College programme manager Becky Findley, who successfully launched the city’s first ever journalism degree course at UCMK, is playing a key role in the new venture.

She said: “There’s a fantastic gap in the market for computer games development as there’s a large UK base for it - the industry is flourishing.

“It’s already an industry that is waiting for fresh, young talent and this will help companies to recognise it. Milton Keynes could be a localised station.

“People think that video games promote violence, but that’s not what it’s about - it’s about art, design and development.”

The Edexcel course provides an opportunity for specialist progression for level 2 students onto courses preparing them for university.

Ms Findley added: “The course will offer a base of media skills. It will enable the students to specialise sooner and get into the industries.”

Meanwhile, the college is also launching a level 2 course in Art and Design, which will involve life drawing and printmaking.

If you are interested in signing up for a course at MK College you can apply by logging on to www.mkcollege.ac.uk
